These shorts are PERFECT if you need longer shorts for work, but don't want denim or the black "khaki" fabric. They almost feel like the type of fabric that khaki pants are though- very thick, but softer. Since they are thicker as opposed to yoga-type shorts or leggings, there is absolutely NO CHANCE that your underwear will show through, even if you wear the brightest colored ones and do squats. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for working out, but for work they are perfect. Maybe find something thinner and more stretchy for a gym trip. The waist band is very thick and high quality, but a bit too high for my taste- so I fold it down a little. I'm 5'4, 115 pounds and I bought a size small. Since the waist band is thick, it would be great for tummy control if you need it, but maybe still go up a size larger than usual if your stomach is bulgy, otherwise the shorts may be too tight in that area and uncomfortable. As for washing, I've washed and worn them about 3 or 4 times now, and they've held up great besides getting a little shorter on the legs. They used to be right at the top of my knee, now they're about 3 inches above it. I do usually go against the rules and stick em in the dryer for like 5-10 minutes to partially dry before laying them out to finish drying though, that's probably why.I've ordered these shorts serveral times in the past. I was very satisfied with the thickness of the fabric and the amount of stretch. My latest order is a different product. The fabric is much thinner, there is not as much elasticity and the fit is different. I will not be ordering these again.Due to the hot, humid climate where I live, I only wear breathable cotton and was happy when I came across these, falling right above the knee to cover those dimples on the thighs. The unnoticeable side pockets are a plus too. I am 5'4", 127 lbs and my waist/hip size (30"/38.5") fell in the MEDIUM size according to their chart.They are well made, fit very nicely around the tummy and fall 1" below the belly button, no bulges. Washed them in the casual/perm-press cycle, air dried them right away and no shrinkage.Only downsides...they do not have a crotch gusset and could have a bit more compression to make the thighs look taut and shapelier (see the loose feature on pics).The material and length of these shorts are just what I was looking for. I am 5’1”, 135#, got size large, and these fit snugly but comfortably. High waist doesn’t roll. The length hits at knee for me. Will probably purchase more, but will wait to see how these hold up after washing and drying. Thicker material, not see-through. I like to wear boyfriend tees, tunic length shirts, so these fit the bill thus far.I have purchased these twice now- and told all my friends to do the same. They are soft, hold you in, fabric is thick and not see thru- but stretchy and comfy.You will live in these!Do not like the compression type fabric. Too much spandex.Also, unusual communications with seller: first, the product came directly from China. Then when I submitted a return request, I was offered to purchase a second (presumably different product), and only pay half price to keep the one I bought. I declined, and a link to a return label was sent, but clicking on it took me to a label to return directly to seller, but I would have to pay shipping. When I asked why I couldn't return free by UPS, they responded that my refund had been made and I could keep the product.Liked these more than I expected to. Read the reviews and expected the tights/shorts to be thinner than I usually prefer, but they were plenty thick and well sewn. Line dried them per the care label, and they washed up and dried without shrinkage or pilling. I was a bit surprised that they seemed larger in the waist than I'd expected given the size chart. (I'm 5'4", 147 pounds, 32" waist, 41" hips ...... I bought size L). I LOVED the fact that they do sit higher on the waist to constrain my, uh, less than stellar midsection. =) If you are short-waisted, as I am, you'll find that the shorts sit up towards your rib section though. The length is nice. (They sit as pictured right above the knee.)Bought two pairs and will buy more!I am 47 yrs, 5'7", roughly 160lbs. I usually wear US 10/12. I ordered size L, but I probably should have ordered an XL.These are very well made. They are lined and have a key pocket inside the waistband. I bought these to wear under skirts and dresses in the summer, cuz, you know...the thighs don't like humidity. These will definitely work for that. While L fit fine, there is a tiny piece of elastic in the uppermost portion of the waistband that feels like a tight rubberband around my waist. It's not particularly comfortable and it's sewn into the fabric, so I won't be able to easily remove it. I don't understand why they did that. The flat, wide waistband is also lined and wouldn't go anywhere if that tiny piece of elastic were gone. Other than that, the length is right, just above the knees as shown and the fabric is going to last forever!
