My daughter used them for softball & they gave her extra padding.Saw review to order up 2 sizes and that was too much. Ordered XL but still a bit too tight (even for tight fitting sliding shorts.) Seems like good quality though.I ordered four different sliding shorts for her to try and Lisa or the ones she picked based on comfort and protection. The padding on the side is similar to something that would be quilted, which provides good protection, but the waffle texture shows when wearing white pants. This does bug my daughter, but not enough to switch. Perfect when wearing black softball pants.These are great shorts, good and thick on the side, the only down fall is you can see the diamond print through pretty thick softball pants, but my daughter loves them.They did the job, but my daughter wasn't pleased with my purchase because it looked like she had cellulite due to the bumps on the shorts.I bought these for my daughter to wear under her softball pants because her old ones were too small. She likes these better than her old ones (which were made by Easton).Love these. True to sizeGood quality... xs are a bit big for my 12 year old that weighs about 80 lbs.
